Jonny Adamow, a 29-year-old artist, has been identified as the victim of a shooting on December 31, 2024, at Broadway and Pike in Seattle. The King County Medical Examiner reported that Adamow died from a gunshot wound to the chest during an ambush intended for another individual. Surveillance footage reveals the gunman lurking behind a utility pole before opening fire as Adamow inadvertently stepped in between the shooter and the intended target. Mayor Bruce Harrell called the killing 'heartbreaking and unacceptable,' particularly as it occurred just before New Year's Eve festivities. The Seattle Police Department has seized over 5,500 firearms in recent years as part of their efforts to address gun violence.

Adamow's death marks the 13th homicide under investigation in the East Precinct for 2024, raising alarms about safety in the area. Authorities are actively seeking public assistance in identifying and locating the suspect involved in the shooting, reflecting growing community concerns about public safety in the Capitol Hill neighborhood.
