Man escapes police after crashing car into building in Centralia
Centralia Police are actively searching for a suspect who fled on foot after crashing his SUV into a building during a high-speed chase early Thursday morning. The incident began shortly after 2:15 AM when an officer observed a red SUV driving erratically on North Pearl Street, raising suspicions of impaired driving. When the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the suspect accelerated, leading to a high-speed pursuit that ended with the vehicle crashing into a parked car and then into a building. The suspect exited the vehicle and escaped on foot, last seen heading east on Center Street. Despite the deployment of a K9 unit, police have not yet located the suspect.
This incident has sparked serious concerns about public safety and the effectiveness of law enforcement in managing high-speed pursuits. Centralia Police are encouraging anyone with information about the suspect's identity or whereabouts to contact them, as the community remains on edge during the ongoing search and investigation.
