In light of a recent shooting at 12th Avenue South and South King Street, Councilmember Tanya Woo issued a statement reflecting on the impact of violence in the Chinatown-International District. She recalled the area’s previous vibrancy and underscored the urgency of restoring safety. Woo committed to taking action within the council to improve public safety resources, stating, "The violence must stop. " She emphasized her active involvement with local businesses and the community, including weekly walks through Little Saigon with a community watch group. Woo is also keeping a close watch on the planned move of the Navigation Center in January and is advocating for funding for safety ambassadors.

A community forum with Police Chief Sue Rahr and other officials is being organized to listen to residents' concerns. This initiative aims to address interconnected safety issues in the district. Woo's efforts highlight a proactive approach to community safety and collaboration.
