Public Review of First Amendment to Draft EIR for Kaiser Permanente San José Medical Center
The City of San José has released the First Amendment to the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Kaiser Permanente San José Medical Center, now open for public review. The ambitious project plans to replace the current 250,000-square-foot hospital with a new 685,000-square-foot facility, including a basement, a central utility plant, and a parking structure. While the new hospital is constructed, the existing facility will continue to operate at full capacity, ensuring ongoing healthcare services. The project also entails the demolition of two one-story medical offices and the construction of a 250,000-square-foot outpatient facility and additional parking. Public hearings are scheduled for September 11, 2024, at the Planning Commission, and October 8, 2024, at the City Council, both of which will be held in-person and accessible via Zoom teleconference.
The project is associated with several file numbers, including PDC23-006, PD23-002, and ER23-005. Stakeholders are encouraged to review the project details and participate in the discussions to voice their opinions. This initiative marks a significant investment in healthcare infrastructure, aiming to meet the growing needs of the San José community.
