San Jose to Authorize Healthy Housing Grant for Low-Income Homeowners
The City of San Jose is preparing to authorize Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley to submit a request for Healthy Housing Production Grant funds, aimed at improving housing conditions for low-income homeowners. Set to begin on September 15, 2024, this initiative will provide essential rehabilitation assistance to eliminate substandard living conditions. The funding is derived from the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1970 and reinforced by the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022. A broad review has already been completed, complying with numerous environmental laws, including the Endangered Species Act and the Floodplain Management Act. Following this, site-specific reviews will be conducted to address any remaining regulatory requirements.
The program's goal is to create healthier living environments, directly impacting the safety and well-being of residents. This initiative underscores San Jose's commitment to improving housing quality and addressing community needs. It is an essential step in fostering a healthier city for its residents.
