Shakey's Pizza closes Renton location, leaving Western WA without one

Sammamish, WALocal News

Shakey’s Pizza Parlor in Renton will permanently close its doors on January 20, 2025, marking a significant moment for local pizza lovers as it ceases operations in Western Washington. The closure is attributed to ongoing property redevelopment, which has left the area without its iconic pizzeria. Following this closure, the last remaining Shakey’s location in the state will be in Pasco, located in Eastern Washington. Founded in Sacramento in 1954, Shakey’s holds the distinction of being the first franchise pizza chain in the United States, known for its delicious pizza, crispy fried chicken, and the signature Mojo potatoes. The chain has become a nostalgic favorite for generations of families, hosting countless birthday parties and casual dinners over the years.

In its prime, Shakey’s had over 340 locations in 1968, but has since seen a significant decline in numbers. While the Renton site will close, Shakey’s continues to operate internationally with locations in the Philippines, Japan, and Singapore. As the community bids farewell to the Renton location, patrons are encouraged to visit one last time to reminisce and enjoy their favorite dishes before its doors close for good.
