Crane falls onto building in Everett, WA injuring two workers

On January 16, 2025, a construction crane fell onto a building at the Everett Mall in Everett, Washington, injuring two workers. The Everett Fire Department (EFD) received reports of the incident at around 10:42 a. m. and quickly responded with emergency crews. One of the injured workers was transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

As efforts to secure the area continued, another crane was brought in by 11:11 a. m. to lift the tipped crane off the building, while building engineers assessed the structural damage. The EFD cleared the scene approximately two hours later, transferring control of the situation to the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries, which will conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident. This incident underscores the inherent dangers of construction work and the critical role of safety regulations in preventing such occurrences.
