Sammamish Town Center breaks ground after years of delay

Sammamish, WALocal News

The Sammamish Town Center has officially broken ground, bringing to fruition a development plan that has faced numerous obstacles since its inception in 2008. On May 18, city officials, developers, and community members gathered to celebrate this milestone, which promises to transform the central hub of Sammamish. King County Executive Dow Constantine highlighted the project’s vision of fostering walkable communities filled with diverse housing, retail, dining, and parks. The first phase will build 38 townhomes, while a potential second phase aims to add another 48 homes. The broader project will also feature an 82,000-square-foot mixed-use space and 300 multifamily residential units, with 20% designated as affordable housing.

Local leaders, including U. S. Rep. Kim Schrier and Mayor Kali Clark, expressed their enthusiasm for the project's potential to address the regional housing crisis sustainably. Residents voiced their support, emphasizing the need for reasonably priced homes that align with the community's values.

This development marks a significant step toward enhancing the livability and economic viability of Sammamish, providing essential resources for current and future residents.
