Rockville Police Arrest Pair for Attempted Strong-Arm Robbery and Auto Theft
Rockville City Police took swift action on February 19, 2024, apprehending 18-year-old Nelvin Reyes-Nieto and a juvenile for their roles in an attempted strong-arm robbery and auto theft. The incident unfolded shortly after 11:30 a. m. when officers responded to a robbery call at the intersection of Waddington Lane and Waddington Ct. The suspects attempted to steal a cell phone from the victim before fleeing in a blue Kia, which had been reported stolen earlier that day.
Officers quickly issued a lookout for the vehicle, leading to its discovery on E. Jefferson St. In collaboration with the Montgomery County Department of Police, Rockville officers followed the stolen car into an apartment complex on Montrose Rd. After abandoning the vehicle, Reyes-Nieto and the juvenile attempted to escape on foot but were apprehended shortly after. Both individuals are being charged with several offenses, including attempted strong-arm robbery and auto theft.
