Fall Outreach Coming for Zoning Ordinance Update

Rockville, MDLocal News

Rockville's Public Information Office has announced two workshops aimed at informing residents about the ongoing update to the city's zoning ordinance. The virtual workshop is scheduled for Thursday, October 17, and an in-person session will follow on Tuesday, October 22, at the Mayor and Council Chambers in City Hall. Both workshops will cover the same content, focusing on the significance of zoning and its connection to the Rockville 2040 Comprehensive Plan. The comprehensive rewrite of the zoning ordinance, last updated in 2009, seeks to modernize land-use laws to reflect contemporary trends in living, working, and recreation for Rockville's residents. Participants will receive background information on the project, its scope, and anticipated outcomes, as well as milestones achieved thus far.

Additionally, changes to the city's zoning map, including property rezoning, will be discussed as part of the update process. A recording of the virtual workshop will be made available on the project webpage for those unable to attend. Residents are encouraged to visit the website for more information and to sign up for updates regarding the project.
