Fall Outreach Coming for Zoning Ordinance Update
The City of Rockville is hosting community workshops on October 17 and October 22 to discuss the ongoing update to its zoning ordinance, which has not been comprehensively revised since 2009. These workshops aim to inform residents about the importance of zoning and how the update aligns with the Rockville 2040 Comprehensive Plan. Participants will learn about the project's scope, milestones achieved thus far, and the anticipated outcomes of the rewrite. The update is designed to enhance the usability and accessibility of the zoning ordinance while modernizing land-use laws to meet the evolving needs of the community. The meetings will take place at 7 p.
m. , with one being virtual and the other in person at the Mayor and Council Chambers. A recording of the virtual session will be available on the project webpage for those unable to attend. Community input is crucial as the city plans to implement changes to the zoning map as recommended in the comprehensive plan. For more information and to sign up for project updates, residents can visit the project webpage.
