Monsoon to Return in Maharashtra: IMD Issues Yellow Alert, Pune to See Rainfall from Sept 23 - PUNE PULSE

Pune, MHLocal News

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced a yellow alert for Maharashtra, signaling the anticipated return of the monsoon after a prolonged dry spell. Heavy rainfall is expected in isolated areas of Marathwada on September 23 and 24, with other regions such as Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, and Goa set to experience similar conditions from September 24 to 27. An independent weather forecaster has suggested that the upcoming rains may delay the monsoon's withdrawal, which is not expected to occur before October 10-12. IMD scientist S D Sanap stated that rains will resume across the state, including Pune, with heavier downpours likely from September 26 due to a developing low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. Past low-pressure systems had minimal effects on Maharashtra, but the current system is anticipated to bring significant rainfall.

The article emphasizes the importance of these rains for the region, especially after a lengthy dry spell. The impact of the monsoon's return is particularly relevant for local agriculture and water supply. Residents are advised to stay alert and prepared for the forthcoming weather changes.
