Pune Rural Police To Acquire Guns Amid Concerns Raised By Villagers Over Flying Of Drones - PUNE PULSE
In recent weeks, villagers from Ambegaon, Maval, Saswad, Indapur, Junnar, Bhor, and Vehle have raised alarms over mysterious bright lights in the night sky, particularly near local water bodies. The unusual sightings have led to numerous calls to the police control room, prompting investigations from police patrols that have yet to uncover any definitive source. Authorities suspect that unauthorized drone activity is contributing to the panic among residents, who are unsettled by loud humming sounds and blinking lights. In response to these concerns, Pune rural police have taken proactive measures by initiating a tender for the procurement of two anti-drone guns, following the state government’s approval of Rs 50 lakh for this purpose. These advanced guns are capable of disabling drones from a distance by disrupting their electronic signals, allowing for safe retrieval and investigation.
A specially trained police team will be deployed to operate these guns and respond to emergency situations in the affected areas. Mumbai police are already utilizing similar technology to combat unauthorized drone usage, highlighting a growing trend in law enforcement to address drone-related concerns. This initiative aims to restore safety and peace of mind to the residents who have been alarmed by the recent aerial disturbances.
