Atal Setu Expansion To Reduce Travel Time As 8-Lane Highway To Connect Mumbai, Pune, Solapur, and Satara
The Atal Setu expansion is set to enhance connectivity between major cities in Maharashtra, significantly reducing travel times for commuters. The Shivdi-Nhava Sheva Sea Link Highway has already improved journeys between Mumbai and Pune, but the new expressway will extend this benefit to Solapur and Satara. With an estimated cost of ₹17,000 crore, the highway will be 130 kilometers long and consist of eight lanes, designed to accommodate increasing traffic demands. Officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) project that the new route will save travelers 75 to 90 minutes on their journeys. This development comes as a response to the heavy congestion often faced on the existing Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
The project is currently in the planning stages, with the NHAI prioritizing a timely rollout. Improved infrastructure will not only enhance travel efficiency but also stimulate economic growth in the connected regions. Overall, the Atal Setu expansion represents a significant investment in Maharashtra's transportation network.
