MMC introduces QR codes for 1.94 Lakh doctors to tackle fake practitioners
The Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) is taking significant action to tackle the problem of fake practitioners by introducing QR codes for its registered medical practitioners (RMPs). Currently, there are around 1. 94 lakh RMPs registered with the council, and the new QR code system is expected to enhance the verification process for patients. This initiative, which is set to be implemented before December, aims to not only safeguard patients but also maintain the credibility of the medical profession in Maharashtra. By allowing patients to easily verify the authenticity of their healthcare providers, the MMC is addressing a critical issue that affects public health and safety.
The decision reflects a broader trend within the healthcare sector to leverage technology in combating fraudulent practices. Officials have emphasized that this QR code system is a proactive measure to instill trust and transparency in medical services. With rising concerns over healthcare fraud, the MMC's initiative demonstrates its commitment to ensuring that only legitimate practitioners serve the public. The rollout of this QR system could serve as a model for other states grappling with similar issues.
