Washington State Patrol investigates pedestrian fatality on SR-500 in Clark County

The Washington State Patrol is investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred on SR-500 in Clark County on December 27. Emergency responders were dispatched just after 5 p. m. to the scene near milepost 10, east of Orchards. A 53-year-old man from Vancouver was tragically struck while standing in the westbound lane of the highway.

The vehicle that hit him also collided with a tree and came to rest in a nearby ditch. Fortunately, the 20-year-old driver from Yacolt was wearing his seatbelt and emerged from the incident without injuries. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed as authorities await family notification. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing, emphasizing the dangers present on busy roadways and the importance of pedestrian safety measures.
