Philly releases open data on property tax delinquencies | Department of Revenue

Philadelphia, PALocal News

Philadelphia's Department of Revenue has launched a new dataset on property tax delinquencies, which is now accessible via OpenDataPhilly. This dataset represents a significant improvement in how tax delinquency information is presented, as it categorizes delinquencies by zip code, council district, and census tract for easier comprehension. A tax account is deemed delinquent if the Real Estate Tax remains unpaid by January 1 of the following year after the due date. The comprehensive dataset includes critical financial details such as the principal amount due, interest accrued, penalties, and total outstanding balances, aiding researchers and urban economists in their analysis. Additionally, it provides information on the earliest and latest delinquent accounts, enhancing the dataset's utility.

To protect taxpayer privacy, the data is aggregated at the individual level. Ongoing updates to the dataset are planned due to recent enhancements in the Revenue’s data management systems. For further details on individual property tax accounts, residents can visit the city's tax services website.
