Public Engagement for Omaha Climate Action and Tourism Awards Nominations Open
Omaha is gearing up for a series of public open houses starting February 12, 2024, to discuss the Climate Action and Resilience Plan, which aims to equip the community with strategies for climate resilience and sustainability. These sessions will allow residents to learn about draft goals and share their insights on climate-related challenges and opportunities. Attendees will have access to essential baseline climate information, including vulnerability assessments and greenhouse gas inventories. In a parallel effort, the OMA Tourism Awards are now accepting nominations for outstanding local tourism businesses, with the nomination period running until February 28, 2024. This initiative is particularly timely, as the region has experienced record-breaking years in tourism, leading to increased visitor spending and engagement.
Starting March 1, the public will have the chance to vote for their favorite businesses, with winners announced during National Travel and Tourism Week from May 19-25, 2024. The awards aim to celebrate the contributions of over 15,000 individuals working in the local tourism sector. These events not only highlight community engagement but also emphasize the importance of local businesses in fostering economic growth.
