Celebrate Valentines weekend with old-time music, Zimbabwean tunes, a play or a cabaret
This Valentine's weekend, the city of Olympia invites residents and visitors to immerse themselves in a vibrant array of cultural events starting with the 15th Oly Old-Time Fest, running from February 14-16. The festival features celebrated musicians such as Balfa Toujours, known for its Cajun roots, and the Earl White Stringband, honoring Appalachian traditions. Attendees can enjoy a mix of concerts, square dances, and free workshops, making it an engaging experience for all ages. Concurrently, Harlequin Productions presents "How Much the Heart Can Hold," a play that combines narrative and performance art, directed by Kathryn Dorgan and starring local acting couples. On February 15, Mukana Marimba, along with Samba Olywa, will perform in support of the Food Source Foundation, a newly established nonprofit addressing food insecurity in the area.
Tickets for these cultural experiences range from $15 to $30, ensuring accessibility for the community. This weekend is a perfect opportunity to celebrate love and local talent through music, dance, and theater. Join in the festivities and support local initiatives while enjoying the arts in Olympia.
