Washington Gov.-elect Bob Ferguson announces reappointment of 7 state department heads
Gov. -elect Bob Ferguson has announced the reappointment of seven cabinet heads, emphasizing the importance of experienced leadership as Washington State faces various challenges ahead. The reappointments, effective January 15, include notable figures such as Joel Sacks, who has led the Department of Labor and Industries since 2013, and Allyson Brooks, the state’s historic preservation officer with over two decades of experience. John Batiste, the chief of the Washington State Patrol, is also returning, having held the position since 2005. Ferguson stated, 'With our challenges ahead, proven and thoughtful leadership is more important than ever,' highlighting the need for effective governance.
Other reappointments include Shauna Bilyeu as executive director for the Washington Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Youth, Scott McCallum as superintendent for the Washington State School for the Blind, and Drew Shirk as director for the Department of Revenue.
