Missing Olympia boys found after city-wide search Wednesday | The Olympian

On December 11, 2024, two 11-year-old students from Hansen Elementary School in Olympia, Allen Leman and Drake Coop, ran away, prompting a six-hour search by local police and community volunteers. The search began around 1 p. m. after the school alerted authorities. Officers searched the campus, nearby neighborhoods, stores, and public transportation.

At approximately 8:30 p. m. , one of the boys called 911, stating they were lost, leading to their discovery near Kaiser Road Northwest and Goldcrest Drive, about 2,000 feet from the school. Both boys were found in good health, albeit frightened. The incident underscores the importance of communication and safety measures in schools regarding student welfare, with authorities confirming no criminal activity was involved.
