On December 6, the Washington State Capitol will host its 36th annual tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p. m. , featuring the beloved Santa and Mrs. Claus, along with Lt. Gov.

Denny Heck and the Washington Middle School Bulldog Choir. The Department of Enterprise Services has beautifully decorated three noble fir trees, each over 17 feet tall, with a total of 1,600 lights. This year's theme, 'Winter Wonderland,' aims to create a joyful and festive atmosphere for families attending the event. The noble firs were sourced from a nearby farm in Rainier, Washington, highlighting local involvement in the celebration. This annual ceremony not only marks the beginning of the holiday season but also reinforces the Capitol's role as a hub for community engagement and democratic participation.

The event is free to the public, emphasizing the significance of community gatherings during the holidays and aiming to foster joy and togetherness among the citizens of Washington.
