12-year-old dies after 'tragic' backyard ziplining accident in Lancaster County police

The East Hempfield Township Police were alerted to the situation on Chadwyck Lane at approximately 11:45 a. m. Sunday. Upon arrival, officers found the boy unresponsive due to a tree that had fallen on him after the zipline he was using broke.

Despite the efforts of nearby residents to administer life-saving measures, the child was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lancaster County Coroner's Office. Investigators have determined that the incident was purely accidental, with no criminality involved.
