3 dead, 1 injured in 2 separate Oakland shootings, police say

On September 8, 2024, Oakland police reported a tragic series of events involving two separate shootings that left three people dead. The first incident occurred shortly before 4:30 p. m. in the 600 block of 23rd Street, where officers discovered two victims with gunshot wounds, both of whom succumbed to their injuries despite paramedic efforts. Shortly after, a third victim arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds, believed to be related to the earlier shooting, and is currently in stable condition.

Later that evening, police responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 10500 block of E Street, where they found another shooting victim who was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators from the Oakland Police Department's Homicide Section are now working to piece together the details surrounding both shootings. The names of the victims have not been released pending family notification. Authorities are actively seeking information from the public to aid in their investigation.
