Columbia River Treaty negotiations paused, information session will answer questions
Adrian Dix, the Minister of Energy and Climate Solutions, is set to host a virtual information session on March 25, 2025, aimed at updating the public on the Columbia River Treaty modernization process. This event is particularly relevant as the U. S. has paused negotiations with Canada, citing a comprehensive review of its international engagements. Joining Dix will be MLAs Brittny Anderson and Steve Morissette, along with the lead negotiator for B.
C. on the Columbia River Treaty. Scheduled from 6-7 p. m. Pacific time, the session encourages residents to submit questions in advance, fostering an interactive dialogue.
In addition to the virtual session, the Province plans to hold in-person community meetings in the B. C. Columbia Basin, contingent on future developments regarding the treaty modernization. This initiative is part of the B. C.
government's strategy to engage with Basin First Nations, local governments, and residents following the agreement-in-principle reached with the U. S. in July 2024. More information and resources on the treaty and the AIP can be found on the B. C.
Columbia River Treaty website. Residents are encouraged to share their feedback and stay informed by subscribing to updates via the website.
