Quarterly Message from Mayor Miller
Mayor Miller's quarterly message warmly welcomes North Bend residents to enjoy the festive holiday season, highlighting the town's enchanting decorations and local business support. The recent Holly Days winter festival brought together approximately 750 community members to celebrate and participate in various activities, showcasing the town's strong sense of community. Exciting events are planned for January, including a Saturday Night Fever-themed Pub Crawl to benefit the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank and the return of the Citizens Academy, which aims to foster civic engagement among residents. This month, the City Council successfully adopted the 2024 Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Map, a significant step in ensuring the city’s development aligns with state legislation and community aspirations. The city is also making strides in affordable housing by acquiring property for rental apartments targeted at local workers earning below 60% of the King County Average Median Income.
The completion of Master Plans for Taylor and Riverfront Parks will enhance recreational spaces for residents. These initiatives highlight North Bend's commitment to community engagement, development, and support for local businesses. Mayor Miller looks forward to continuing these efforts in the new year, emphasizing the importance of resident feedback in shaping local policies.
