Questions About Annexing the City of Mill Creek to South County Fire?

Mill Creek, WALocal News

Mill Creek is hosting two public meetings on April 13 and April 19 to discuss the potential annexation to South Snohomish County Fire & Rescue Regional Fire Authority, following the expiration of its current fire service contract. The first meeting will occur in person at the City Council Chambers, while the second will be a virtual session on Zoom. Proposition 1, which will be featured on the April 26 special election ballot, aims to provide residents with a cost-effective fire service option. The City determined that South County Fire would offer the lowest costs based on 2022 figures. Residents can learn about the fire benefit charge, which is based on property size and usage, distinguishing between single-family homes and commercial properties.

For an average 2,000 square foot home in Mill Creek, the annual cost would be approximately $882. 73 if annexation were implemented. Attendees are encouraged to reserve their spot for the in-person meeting by contacting the City Clerk. Further information and updates can be found on the City’s official website.
