MADRAS POLICE MAKE ARREST IN SEPTEMBER STABBING AT HOMELESS CAMP

Madras Police have arrested 40-year-old Sampson Price in connection with a stabbing that took place at a homeless camp on September 11, 2023. The incident occurred near SW 4th and Maple Streets, where officers responded to St. Charles Hospital to assist a victim with non-life-threatening stab wounds. Price faces serious charges including first-degree assault, second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and tampering with physical evidence. Chief Tim Plummer praised the investigative work of Officer Ryan Kathrein, who was able to connect Price to the case while he was already in custody for unrelated charges.

Officers conducted interviews with the victim and multiple witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the stabbing. Price's arraignment is set for October 16, 2023, at 1:00 PM in Jefferson County Circuit Court. The Madras Police Department is actively encouraging anyone with more information to contact Officer Kathrein.
