MADRAS SHOOTING ENDS IN QUICK DETAINMENT BY OFFICERS; MULTIPLE ARRESTS
On January 24, 2024, at approximately 3:45 PM, Madras Police Officers responded to a call about shots fired at the City Pump gas station, leading to a rapid detainment of two suspects. Dondi Leon Foster, Sr. , 47, and Kristan Lee Smith, 25, were arrested shortly after officers arrived, with Foster facing charges of unlawful possession of a short-barreled rifle and unlawful use of a weapon. Smith was charged with robbery and theft. Further investigation uncovered Foster's involvement in a prior shooting incident on January 22, 2024, where a victim was shot in the leg.
Police Chief Timothy Plummer commended the swift action of the officers and the cooperation of local businesses, which provided critical surveillance footage. Later that evening, a third suspect, Hattie Agnes Hart, 38, was also arrested for robbery and theft.
