Edmonds School Board Prioritizes Funding for 2024-25 School Year

They outlined ten key legislative priorities for the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA) to advocate for in the next session. President Nancy Katims emphasized the importance of funding during the discussions, conveying that while all priorities hold significance, funding remains the central focus. The board ranked priorities such as equitable funding for regionalization, full funding of basic education, and support for special education programs, among others. They also highlighted issues like universal free school meals and budget stability.

Additionally, the board recognized other legislative items for discussion, including the need for funding unique programs and the importance of class size reduction. The proactive approach taken by the board aims to ensure that essential financial resources are allocated to meet the district's needs. This initiative reflects the board's commitment to advocating for the educational needs of the Edmonds community.
