City of Lynnwood and Partners to Host Juneteenth Freedom Festival

The City of Lynnwood is set to host its second annual Juneteenth Freedom Festival on June 19, 2024, celebrating this important day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. The festival will occur from 10 a. m. to 3 p. m.

at Cedar Valley Community School, featuring a mini-health fair where community members can access screenings and vaccinations. Local vendors and food trucks will be present, with a focus on supporting BIPOC businesses in South Snohomish County. Attendees will also enjoy a variety of entertainment, including performances by the Around the Sound Community Matching Band and the Vision Step Team from Meadowdale High School. The event will be hosted by Dr. Margaret Towolawi and will feature keynote speeches from city officials, including Mountlake Terrace City Council's Dr.

Steve Woodard. This year’s festival aims to foster community connections and highlight local resources, with sponsorship from organizations such as Community Transit and United Healthcare. With free admission, the event is expected to attract a diverse crowd eager to celebrate and learn about Juneteenth.
