Lynnwood City Council Selects Eight Applicants to Interview for Council Vacancy

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Lynnwood City Council has narrowed down the selection to eight candidates from a total of 22 applicants for a council vacancy. Interviews for the candidates are scheduled for July 9 and 10, 2024, with each candidate allotted 30 minutes to answer questions from the council in a public setting. Community members are encouraged to attend or watch the proceedings live online. After the interviews, the council will convene in an Executive Session to evaluate the candidates' qualifications. The council will then engage in a structured voting process across three rounds to determine the top candidates.

In the first round, council members will express their support for their top candidate, awarding three points to that individual. The process will continue with additional rounds for the second and third choices, with the goal of achieving a consensus on the new appointee. The appointed individual will take their Oath of Office during the July 15 Work Session, marking their official entry into the council.
