Palisades Fire Santa Monica to resume permit parking enforcement

Los Angeles, CALocal News

Starting February 17, 2025, Santa Monica will resume enforcement of its Preferential Parking program, which was temporarily suspended due to the Palisades Fire and other wildfires in the region. The program aims to prioritize resident parking in designated zones, and its enforcement is crucial for maintaining compliance with parking regulations. To assist residents affected by the wildfires, the city is extending a complimentary 30-day temporary parking permit for those housing displaced individuals. This initiative includes both the 30-day Temporary Preferential Parking Permit and the Overnight Beach Resident Parking Permit, ensuring adequate support for residents during recovery efforts. Vehicles parked in Preferential Parking zones must display valid permits, or they may receive citations.

Residents can apply for these permits at the Parking Operations Office during specified hours. The enforcement will also apply on Presidents Day, February 17, while street sweeping will not be enforced. For further details on obtaining a Preferential Parking permit, residents can visit the city’s official website.
