Now in its 16th year, this annual contest is hosted in collaboration with the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center, emphasizing the importance of local literary talent. Eligible submissions can be fiction or nonfiction, with a limit of 1,000 words, which may include complete works or excerpts from longer texts like novels or essays. The competition is primarily open to writers residing east of the Cascades, with an exception for Write On The River members from other areas of Washington state. Each entry requires a $20 fee, and participants can also request written critiques for an additional charge.
