A dramatic standoff in Lakewood, Washington, culminated in a shooting incident that left a suspect in critical condition. The situation unfolded when police received reports of a suspicious person believed to be involved in a burglary, prompting officers to respond. The suspect fled through a field, scaled a razor-wire fence onto Joint Base Lewis-McChord property, and barricaded himself inside a business. As negotiations took place, residents in the surrounding area were evacuated for their safety. The standoff lasted roughly 8 hours, during which the suspect fired shots at officers.

Around 5:53 p. m. , he attempted to escape, resulting in gunfire exchanged with police. Following his arrest, the suspect was transported to a hospital for treatment. Investigators are now focused on determining the circumstances surrounding the incident and the condition of the responding officers.
