'Chicken Scam Lady' arrested in Lakewood following recent scheme

Jasmine Willie, commonly known as the 'Chicken Scam Lady,' was apprehended by Lakewood Police in Tacoma after they received a tip about her location. She faces serious legal challenges with four felony warrants and 13 misdemeanor warrants related to her ongoing retail theft activities. Willie's method involves deceiving store clerks into believing she is entitled to refunds, often claiming discrimination or that she purchased spoiled chicken for church events. Alongside her, her husband, Omar Rashid, was also arrested due to a felony warrant. Willie has allegedly extorted thousands of dollars from businesses using these tactics, highlighting a troubling pattern of organized retail theft.

She is currently being held on a $200,000 bail, and if released, she will be transferred to King County Jail, where she has an additional $50,000 warrant pending. This case has garnered attention due to its nature and the significant number of warrants associated with Willie, reflecting broader issues of retail crime and its impact on local businesses in Pierce and King County.
