Lacey Commission on Equity Promoting Inclusivity and Community Engagement

The Lacey Commission on Equity was established by the Lacey City Council to foster a more inclusive community, addressing critical issues surrounding race and equity. The Commission, comprising seven adults and one youth member, aims to enhance participation from underrepresented groups and has recently adopted a strategic plan for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging from 2024 to 2030. Meetings are held monthly, allowing public input through written and verbal comments.

Maple Court, an enhanced shelter, officially opened in Lacey on July 5, 2023, celebrated by the Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI). This initiative aims to address the ongoing homelessness crisis exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, providing crucial support to vulnerable populations in the area.
