Santa Claus came to town (twice) Saturday
Santa Claus brought holiday cheer to La Conner during a busy Saturday filled with community celebrations. He started his day at the Rotary Club's pancake breakfast, where he engaged with local families and collected Christmas wish lists. Following his breakfast, he took a memorable ride on a classic 1941 fire truck to the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Gilkey Square. Mayor Marna Hanneman officially welcomed Santa, igniting excitement among attendees despite the biting cold. The event also featured local crafts and baked goods, showcasing the town's festive spirit and community support.
Residents like Les Palaniuk were recognized for their contributions, such as donating the town's Christmas tree. Santa's visit inspired donations for literacy enhancement programs, emphasizing the event's positive impact. With additional holiday events planned, including a boat parade, La Conner continues to celebrate the season vibrantly.
