The Washington State Transportation Commission is finalizing new toll rates for SR-520, with current rates expected to be inadequate by July 2025. This decision comes amidst significant construction activity in Kirkland, where Northeast 85th Street will be fully closed from 9 p. m. Friday to 5 a. m.

Monday. The closure is particularly impactful as it coincides with the Junior League Softball World Series at Everest Park, prompting concerns about traffic congestion for players and spectators. WSDOT is advising those attending the event to allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes to avoid delays. Simultaneously, the SR 520 bridge will be closed in both directions, further complicating travel for vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians. WSDOT has announced that the northbound I-5 ramp to eastbound 520 will be temporarily opened on Saturday evening to alleviate some congestion.

Drivers are encouraged to utilize WSDOT's real-time travel map and project website for the latest updates. This weekend's closures highlight the ongoing construction efforts in the region and their potential impacts on local events and travel.
