Issaquah Acquires Properties for Future Park and Open Space

Issaquah, WALocal News

Issaquah has announced plans to transform two newly acquired properties into open space and a future neighborhood park. The Corra Property, bought in 2008 for approximately $2. 4 million, will initially serve as open space with picnic tables before evolving into Corra Park, which will involve community design input. The Murphy Property, acquired for $440,000, will support stream restoration efforts adjacent to Issaquah Creek. Demolition of the aging structures on both sites is scheduled for early September, with preliminary activity possibly starting in late August.

In addition to these developments, the city is conducting a stream study on the East Fork of Issaquah Creek to address local flooding issues. This study will evaluate low spots along the stream and identify potential hazards to nearby structures. The city plans to support residents through internal coordination and collaboration with local tribes and wildlife authorities. A neighborhood meeting is planned for later this year to discuss the flooding study's aims and expected outcomes with the community.
