Iowa Poll: Job approval for Grassley, Ernst holds steady; it rises among Republicans
A recent Iowa Poll conducted by Selzer & Co. indicates that nearly half of Iowans approve of U. S. Senators Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley, with approval ratings at 48% and 47%, respectively. The poll shows that Grassley's approval has increased by one percentage point since June, while Ernst's has decreased by the same margin.
Additionally, disapproval rates have risen slightly for both senators, with 43% of Iowans disapproving of Grassley and 41% disapproving of Ernst. Among Republican voters, support for both senators has seen a notable increase; 80% of Republicans now approve of Grassley, a rise from 74% in June. This trend suggests that Grassley is regaining support among evangelical Iowans, which may have implications for his upcoming electoral prospects. The poll surveyed 811 Iowans from September 8-11 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3. 4 percentage points.
As the 2024 elections draw closer, these approval ratings may play a critical role in shaping campaign strategies. Overall, the findings reflect a complex political landscape in Iowa as public sentiment shifts.
