Labor Day schedule announced for City of Iowa City

The City of Iowa City has announced its schedule for Labor Day, which will take place on September 2, 2024. On this day, administrative offices and various city facilities will be closed to honor the holiday. However, residents can expect trash, yard waste, and recycling collection to proceed as usual, with a reminder to have their materials at the curb by 7 a. m. The airport’s administration office will be closed, but Jet Air will maintain regular hours.

Other closures include the Animal Care and Adoption Center, landfill, library, and the Senior Center. The City Park Pool and Mercer Park Aquatic Center will have special holiday hours for open swim, while city parking ramps and meters will not be enforced. The Police Department will continue normal patrol operations, although administration and records offices will be closed. Regular city operations will resume on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
