Transit Service Change Announced for Inbound 11-Rochester Detour

Iowa City Transit has announced a significant change to the inbound 11-Rochester detour, effective September 10, 2024, as construction at the intersection of First Avenue and Rochester Avenue progresses. The updated route will take transit service from Post Road to Tudor Drive, continuing onto First Avenue and Rochester Avenue. This alteration allows for the reinstatement of all inbound stops along Rochester Avenue between First and Seventh Avenue, including stops at 7419, 7415, and 7413. However, the temporary inbound stop located on Seventh at Rochester will be discontinued. In addition to the 11-Rochester route, the 3-PM Eastside Loop will also be affected, returning to its previous starting point at Regina Catholic Education Center.

The changes reflect ongoing improvements in the area aimed at enhancing transit efficiency. Riders are advised to utilize the Transit App to stay informed about any updates to routes and services. This announcement underscores Iowa City Transit’s commitment to maintaining effective public transportation as infrastructure developments continue.
