Iowa Poll: Iowans split on favorability toward vice presidential candidates Walz, Vance
According to a recent Iowa Poll conducted by Selzer & Co. , Iowans display divided opinions regarding vice presidential candidates Tim Walz and JD Vance. Walz, the Democratic nominee and governor of Minnesota, holds a slight advantage in favorability ratings, with 43% of respondents viewing him positively, while Vance, a Republican senator from Ohio, is favored by 42%. The poll indicates that Walz also has a lower unfavorable rating at 40% compared to Vance's 42%. Conducted from September 8-11, the poll surveyed 811 Iowans and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.
4 percentage points. In the broader presidential race, the same poll shows Trump leading Harris 47% to 43%, highlighting a narrowing gap since June. Within their respective parties, Vance enjoys strong support from 84% of Republicans, whereas Walz is favored by 89% of Democrats. However, independent voters present a more complex picture, with only 36% favoring Vance and 43% favoring Walz. This division among independents suggests significant challenges for Vance as he seeks to expand his appeal beyond party lines.
