The annual Welcoming Week in Johnson County is set to take place from September 13-22, 2024, featuring a variety of community events aimed at fostering inclusivity and celebrating diversity. This year's theme, "We're All In," serves as a call to action for individuals and organizations to unite and recognize the strengths that come from inclusivity. The week will kick off with a lively block party on September 13, followed by an intercultural celebration and a free movie screening of 'The Monk and the Gun' on September 15. On September 21, a Family Health and Wellness Fair will provide resources and activities for community members. To encourage participation, free yard signs promoting the event are available at City Hall.

Launched in 2012 by Welcoming America, Welcoming Week aims to strengthen relationships between immigrants and non-immigrants while promoting a sense of belonging. The initiative not only showcases local values but also fosters collaboration within the community. For more information and event registration, residents can visit the Welcoming Week website.
