Water Main Flushing Starting January 15th
Beginning January 15th, the City of Ferndale will launch its annual water main flushing program, anticipated to conclude by early April. This crucial maintenance effort, taking place on weekdays from 7:00 a. m. to 4:00 p. m.
, aims to eliminate mineral deposits that naturally accumulate inside the pipe walls. Effective flushing is essential for ensuring a cleaner and more reliable water supply for households and businesses. Residents should be aware that temporary discoloration of their water may occur during this process. To remedy any discoloration, it is recommended to run a cold water tap in the bathtub for a few minutes. The City cautions against washing white clothing or using hot water taps while flushing is in progress, as this may lead to staining from mineral deposits.
