A tragic shooting in Federal Way on February 1, 2025, left a 21-year-old man dead, raising alarms about community safety. According to Cmdr. Kyle Buchanan of the Federal Way Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 11:40 p. m. in the 31000 block of 9th Ave.

S. Upon arrival, they provided first aid to the victim, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, but he was later pronounced dead on the scene. The incident, which occurred just outside a residence, is being treated as a homicide, and the victim's identity has not yet been disclosed. Notably, the victim was found unarmed, and no other individuals were injured in the incident. Authorities utilized a K9 search team to comb the area for suspects, but no leads have emerged as of February 3.

The police are urging anyone with relevant information to contact them, emphasizing the community's role in resolving this case. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing violent crime in the region.
