Update Severe weather shelter extended in Federal Way
In response to dangerously low temperatures, Federal Way has extended its severe weather shelter in partnership with FUSION, now available until January 14. The Pete Andersen FUSION Family Center, located at 1505 S. 328th Street, typically caters to families but will also accommodate individuals experiencing homelessness as space allows. The shelter operates nightly from 5 p. m.
to 7 a. m. , providing snacks and water but prohibiting pets and entry after 10 p. m. This emergency service was initially opened on January 13 and has been extended due to the forecast of freezing temperatures.
Mayor Jim Ferrell highlighted the city’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its residents during harsh winter weather conditions. The partnership with FUSION aims to provide a warm and secure environment for those in need. For additional shelter options across King County, a link is provided to direct residents to further resources. This effort underscores the urgent need for community support during extreme weather events.
