Southbound 529 Out Of Marysville Toward Everett Reduced To One Lane Into Fall 2024

Everett, WALocal News

The Washington State Department of Transportation has announced that southbound SR 529 will be reduced to one lane until fall 2024 as part of a major construction project aimed at improving the interchange with Interstate 5. Effective April 28, 2023, southbound drivers will experience a reduced speed limit of 25 mph due to sharp turns that pose safety concerns. The project entails constructing a roundabout and new ramps, which will allow for better access from northbound I-5 to SR 529 and from SR 529 to southbound I-5. In addition to improving traffic flow, the project will extend the HOV lane from the US 2 interchange in Everett to SR 529, ultimately enhancing the commuting experience for many drivers. The construction also includes the installation of a median barrier, replacing the current jersey barriers to create a safer driving environment.

This initiative is expected to have a substantial positive impact on traffic patterns in the Marysville and Everett areas. The Washington State Department of Transportation encourages drivers to stay informed about the construction progress and to adhere to the new speed limits. For more detailed information, a link to the WSDOT website explaining the full project is provided.
