Snohomish County Preparing for Upcoming Snow Event

Everett, WALocal News

As Snohomish County prepares for an upcoming snow event, Public Works is taking proactive measures to ensure road safety and accessibility. Many roads have already been treated with anti-icer, and crews are stocked with sand, salt, and other materials in anticipation of winter conditions. Public Works Director Kelly Snyder has confirmed that public safety is the department's foremost priority, with adequate supplies available for several days of snow and ice management. The Road Maintenance team oversees approximately 1,600 miles of roads, implementing a priority system for snow and ice removal that ensures essential routes remain clear. Residents are encouraged to utilize several resources, including the Snohomish County Snow & Ice Removal Map and the Public Safety Hub, for real-time updates and information.

It is crucial for residents to give snowplows and anti-icing equipment plenty of room to operate safely, maintaining a minimum following distance of 200 feet. Additionally, residents should refrain from parking on major arterials to facilitate snow removal efforts. By staying informed and adhering to safety recommendations, the community can better navigate the challenges of winter weather.
